Just a loose collection of thoughts about the different acts:
Albania – should get another great result, probably Top 10. I don’t see a path for a win. The head in the beginning is a bit creepy, but its otherwise staged greatly and an impressive performance from Alis. This is the second great entry from Albania in a row, so naturally they’ll be sending something mediocre next year to spite me.
Australia – Currently one of the favorites. I do absolutely see a path for this winning, and I wouldn’t be angry about it. They probably wouldn’t host it, but it’s fun to imagine. I still think the song is nothing to write home about, but Delta does sell it and the climax of the song is staged like a winner.
Austria – He’s just happy to be there, and so are we. Not in any contention, but should be able to avoid zero points, maybe even do slightly okay in the televote.
Belgium – Probably scraped into the grand final narrowly. Should be able to leave a few countries behind in the ranking, but not many.
Bulgaria – I don’t think Top 3 is possible, but I can absolutely see a great televote result.
Croatia – Great staging, and the vocals seem to be good now. For me, the song just doesn’t have the structure to be popular enough. I’m expecting middling results in both jury and televote.
Cyprus – I really wanted to believe this had a path to a surprise upset, but the vocals kill this, unfortunately. Still can do alright in the televote, the song is fun. I feel a bit sorry for the song writers.
Czechia – People have this all the way from failing to qualify to one of the contenders for the top 3. I think this might be one of those songs that gets lost in the melee, kind of like Claude in 2025. It would be a shame.
Denmark – From the very moment this won it’s national final, I thought this was incredibly overhyped. The EBU pretty much buried any chances for a win with is running order spot. I think we’ll see that this didn’t perform nearly as well as everybody thought. Probably slightly better with the juries than with the televote.
Finland – I still don’t vibe all that much with the song, but I won’t be upset if it wins. Mostly because Finland are ready to host and would give it 1000%.
France – To some its too artificial, to me the promise of the Berghain intro doesn’t quite come together. But Monroe is amazing and able to produce goosebumps moments. I will not rule this out from winning, especially if there is a very close race at the top.
Germany – Probably not last? Can’t expect much more to be honest. If it ends up in the middle of the pack, people will celebrate, but I would maintain that Germany could do so much better when it comes to it’s national selection.
Greece – Generative AI in the backgrounds kills this for me. He also sounds a bit weird, but this might also be due to technical issues. Staging is messy but it kind of needs to be. Can still dominate the televote and go on to win.
The country that shouldn’t be there – As in the last two years, you cannot rule out a completely undeserved win with a middling song. The ensuing shitshow might be the only way the EBU finally wakes up from its delusion of neutrality in this issue.
Italy – Overrated as usual, will still somehow prove me wrong by coming top 10.
Lithuania – A great effort that doesn’t quite land 100%. But a true piece of art, unlike „liar fire“. Hopefully gets rewarded with a decent score.
Malta – Made a big fuss about the prop, but it really doesn’t convince on television. A pretty good ballad otherwise, well performed. I’m not sure where this lands.
Moldova – Could win the televote, could win the whole thing. Pretty unlikely path but its plausible. Would be a lovely underdog story and well deserved for just a fun, energetic song.
Norway – Probably also scraped into the grand final. Not expecting many points.
Poland – She can sing, but the song isn’t really fit for Eurovision. Will get some deserved jury points.
Romania – As with Moldova, could win the televote, could win the whole thing. Just as unlikely, just as great a story. While the song might be a bit less accessible than Viva Moldova, it’s second to last running order spot is a great boost.
Serbia – Probably bottom 5, just because people aren’t really open enough to enjoy the growling.
Sweden – This could have been a contender. But the downgrade by ORF compared to Melfest kills this. It was always going to be a rough path to victory, but we can’t see Felicia’s wink, and the epic moment before the drop doesn’t land as well because of the stage and camera work.
Ukraine – Somewhat overrated, as usual. Better than Bird of Pray (sic). Vyshyu would have sent Jerry Heil instead. Will be rewarded as usual.
United Kingdom – Might be able to stave of the dreaded 0 points. Or not.
